These centers are anchored by a strong mix of national and regional retailers, including Albertsons, Trader Joe’s, Gelson’s, and Stater Bros., and serve as essential neighborhood shopping destinations.
Since 1999, Westar Associates has partnered with Rancho Mission Viejo Company to develop, lease, and manage every retail center in these communities, including the upcoming Esencia Commons.
The UPREIT structure allowed Westar and Rancho Mission Viejo to convert their collective ownership interest in the centers into a broader investment of Regency Centers.
“While our core focus remains neighborhood shopping center development, we’ve diversified over the past 15 years into multifamily, hospitality, and self-storage,” said Jud Dutrisac, Chief Operating Officer of Westar Associates. “This investment in Regency Centers is another form of that diversification strategy.”
Westar continues to pursue the acquisition of existing shopping centers, development projects, and investment opportunities across Southern California. The company has eight retail and multifamily projects in various stages of development and currently manages 1.2 million square feet of retail.
